5 Most Likely Chiefs Inactives for Week 1 vs. Ravens

These Chiefs made the 53-man roster, but that doesn't mean they'll be active on game day to start the season.

Week 1 of the regular season is here, and that means Kansas City Chiefs fans get to finally watch their favorite players in some live game action. Or at least, they get to watch most of their favorite players.

While we know who has made the Chiefs' 53-man roster for the season, teams don't get to have all 53 players suit up on gameday. Each week only 48 players suit up, while the rest are determined "inactive." Due to some practice squad eligibility quirks it won't always be exactly 8 players that are inactive, but it will typically be near that number.

So who won't be wearing their game-day jerseys for the Chiefs on Thursday night's season-opener against the Ravens? Let's take a look.

1. Hollywood Brown, WR

Okay, maybe I'm starting off with too easy a pick, because this one is already confirmed. I promise they'll get less obvious from here.

Hollywood Brown has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Ravens, and that injury makes him the first name the Chiefs can lock into their list of inactives. It's a blow to the offense, for sure, but with six other wide receivers on the 53-man roster, there won't be any issues with depth on gameday.

Brown's absence means a wide receiver who wouldn't usually suit up will get the chance. It doesn't confirm that every wide receiver is safe (some teams elect to only dress five), and that puts JuJu Smith-Schuster on shaky footing.

It's safe to assume Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, and Justin Watson suit up, and Skyy Moore and Mecole Hardman should get the nod for their kick return contributions. Andy Reid isn't shy about dressing six receivers though, so expect Brown to be the only one inactive.
