4. John Metchie III - Houston Texans

The Houston Texans made a massive upgrade to their wide receiver room this offseason by acquiring Bills star Stefon Diggs. John Metchie III doesn't have a real path to relevance in the offseason with incumbents Nico Collins and Tank Dell gobbling up targets too.

He was a second-round pick in 2022 who defeated leukemia and I still believe in the former Alabama star. Metchie had three catches for 44 yards in the Texans' playoff win against the Browns and caught 96 passes for 1,142 yards and eight TDs in his last season with the Crimson Tide.

The Texans sent a fair amount of capital to acquire Diggs, so I'd see them amenable to a trade revolved around draft capital on a player they may not have a role for. He's elusive with strong hands with the production and profile to succeed though and I want him to get an opportunity.

That ability to break tackles and create yards after catch, in my opinion, hasn't gone away. Even in a reserve role last year working his way back, Metchie put up 158 yards. If Brett Veach wants to find an inexpensive option as Rashee Rice insurance, I love the idea of the former Crimson Tide star.

We've got a long way to go until the season, but Rice's situation leaves everything uncertain. The Chiefs should consider all options and I wouldn't be surprised to see an acquisition made, whether via trade or free agency.
