3 WRs Chiefs Must Trade for After Devastating Rashee Rice Injury
By Joe Summers
3. Darius Slayton - New York Giants
A fifth-round pick from the 2019 NFL Draft, Darius Slayton is a bonafide deep threat who fits what the Chiefs like to do offensively. He's spent his entire career with the Giants though is on the final year of his contract. If New York doesn't intend to re-sign him, it'd make sense to recoup some value in a trade.
Slayton has four different years with over 700 receiving yards, an impressive accomplishment given the poor QB play he's been stuck with. He's averaged 15 yards per reception for his career, making it easy to imagine him sprinting past defenders alongside Xavier Worthy.
It might not be the flashiest name, but Slayton is a quality player who might be available.
Daniel Jones is one of the worst downfield passers in the NFL. His skillset doesn't mesh with Slayton's, yet Patrick Mahomes' sure does. If the Giants are willing to trade Slayton for a late-round pick, he's worth making the move.
Drops are a bit of an issue for Slayton as well. However, when you suddenly lose someone as important as Rice like the Chiefs have, your options are slim.
Whether it's one of these players or someone else, expect Veach to be active in the trade market.
