3 WRs Chiefs Must Trade for After Devastating Rashee Rice Injury
By Joe Summers
2. Amari Cooper - Cleveland Browns
If the Chiefs want to take a giant swing, Amari Cooper is a name to watch. He's toiling away on a mediocre Browns offense with just 12 catches on the season going into Sunday. Unless Cleveland makes an upgrade at QB over Deshaun Watson, Cooper's skillset will be wasted.
Just last year, Cooper caught 72 passes for a career-high 1,250 yards and five TDs. A majority of that production came with Joe Flacco under center, and Patrick Mahomes' ability to throw downfield would be a perfect match with Cooper.
He has six seasons with at least 1,000 receiving yards and makes the kind of tough, contested catches that the Chiefs' receivers don't right now.
Admittedly, Cooper is off to a fairly miserable start. He leads the NFL with six drops, though he's only had a drop rate over 5.5% twice in his lengthy career. Unless he just somehow forgot how to catch, we can expect his hands to improve over the course of the year.
Perhaps a change of scenery is all Cooper needs to get back on track. Based on his poor start to the season, it's possible Veach could acquire him at a discount.
