3 Royals at Risk of Being Traded Before MLB Deadline

Kansas City could part with some of their top prospects if it's serious about making a playoff push

3. Yandel Ricardo, Shortstop 

If you haven’t picked up on it by now, the main theme of these prospects is that they have high ceilings and they’re not very close to being MLB ready. 

Ricardo is the perfect player for that mold. 

Though he’s just 17-years-old, he has tantalizing talent. He has grades of average or above-average for all five tools and was ranked as the No. 16 international prospect in the 2024 signing period by MLB Pipeline. 

He’s a switch hitter infielder with contact, power and solid fielding. 

But he’s not anticipated to play at the MLB level for up to five years, and the Royals already have their shortstop of the future in Bobby Witt. 

He could be an easy sell to a struggling team that wants to dream on his talent materializing as an MLB player.
