2. Garrett Hampson - CF

Considered more of a versatile mercenary than a long-term solution, Garrett Hampson has done little to indicate he should earn another contract with the Royals.

He's hitting .229 with 54 strikeouts to just 13 walks, offering no power whatsoever and his defensive chops aren't enough to overcome those negatives. Considering some of the promising outfielders Kansas City has in the farm system, there is no reason for Hampson to return.

To his credit, Hampson has had flashes of a patience approach in certain moments. That plate discipline has been more of an exception and not the rule though, indicating it's time for the organization to move on once it has the opportunity.

This has been a spectacular season across the board. If the Royals are serious about taking another step in 2025 and beyond, it's time to fine-tune the roster and fill several gaping holes. Unfortunately for Hampson, he represents a player who needs to be upgraded and shouldn't be on the team moving forward.
