3. Randy Gregory, EDGE

This one might be a "down the line" kind of option for the Chiefs.

Whatever is going on with Randy Gregory right now, you have to hope he's going to be okay mentally. Gregory signed a free agent deal this offseason with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but just never showed up to practice with them. He was cut rather unceremoniously and everyone was just left wondering what the heck was going on.

Gregory has a history of being a bit of a problem in the NFL. He was suspended multiple times as a member of the Dallas Cowboys, and now has failed to report to his new team after signing a free agent contract. Beyond that, Gregory has also dealt with injuries throughout his career and has missed a lot of time on the field as a result.

But when Gregory is healthy and motivated to play, he's a pretty good pass rusher. He was a free agent bust for the Broncos but was traded to San Francisco last season and wound up playing a solid role in rotation off the edge for them.

The Chiefs have the type of structure in their locker room to be able to bring in a player like Gregory. And with the practice squad allowance of up to six vested veterans, he could end up being a bargain for them for virtually nothing in terms of the financial cost.

Again, maybe this is something the Chiefs look into later on in the season, but a pass rusher like Gregory could help this team deep into the season and into the playoffs. That is, assuming he actually wants to play football.
