3. Cordarrelle Patterson

With Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Jerrick McKinnon both unrestricted free agents, the Chiefs will look for additional running back help behind starter Isiah Pacheco.

Pacheco has proven he can be Kansas City’s lead back since being drafted in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft. The Chiefs love to have running backs who can be utilized in the passing game, and that’s where Patterson comes into play.

The 33-year-old running back wasn’t a huge factor in the Atlanta Falcons running game in 2023, as he took a backseat to Tyler Allgeier and Bijan Robinson. Patterson produced 219 yards from scrimmage on 59 touches – the lowest in his three-year stint with the Falcons.

The 6-foot-2 jack-of-all-trades playmaker ran for over 600-plus rushing yards in his previous two years with the Falcons and scored 14 rushing touchdowns. He averaged 115.7 carries and saw 37.3 targets per year in Atlanta.

If Patterson signed with Kansas City, his usage would decrease considerably, but they would find a way to use him all over the field. Spotrac projects the veteran running back to get a one-year, $2.5 million deal, which is perfect for the Chiefs’ wallet.
