3. Willie Gay Jr., linebacker, Saints

We've got to use a couple of qualifiers for this one, because Willie Gay Jr.'s team certainly didn't fail miserably in Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season.

The New Orleans Saints had arguably the single most dominating win of Week 1 over the Carolina Panthers, so they're sitting pretty after the first week of action. But Willie Gay Jr.'s status is undoubtedly up in the air.

The former Chiefs second-round pick was limited to just eight snaps in this game against the Panthers, partly due to being injured and partly due to the fact that the Saints started deploying Alontae Taylor out of the slot more throughout the game and the guy became the second coming of the late-great Reggie White, racking up three sacks.

Gay hasn't been healthy near the start of the season so the fact that he played eight snaps may even mean he played injured.

But watching the Chiefs play and seeing that Gay wasn't really playing a role for the Saints, you can't help but long for a reunion here. The fans in Chiefs Kingdom were longing for the return of Willie Gay while watching the game against the Baltimore Ravens and seeing Nick Bolton have some struggles.

Gay signed a one-year deal worth just $3 million this offseason with the Saints. If he's relegated to some type of backup role this season, perhaps Chiefs general manager Brett Veach will give a call to Saints GM Mickey Loomis and see if they can't swing a trade to bring him back to Kansas City.

Otherwise, it could end up being a miserable failure just for the fact that Gay signed in New Orleans in the first place. The grass is always greener on the other side, right?
