3. Donovan Smith

The 30-year-old offensive lineman was not re-signed by Kansas City this offseason signing a one-year, $3 million contract last offseason.

Smith started in 12 games this past season for the Chiefs and played well, protecting Mahomes’ blindside. The veteran left tackle was ranked 17th in ESPN’s offensive tackle pass block win rate (91%) and had a double-team rate of 29%.

The Chiefs were reportedly exploring a younger option at left tackle (Andre Dillard), but Dillard signed a deal with the Green Bay Packers.

Smith struggled a bit with penalties last season (6), but that shouldn’t be held against him as he’s still one of the better veteran offensive linemen in free agency. There aren’t many teams looking for a starting left tackle. But we could see Smith landing with the Pittsburgh Steelers or the Washington Commanders, for example.
