3 Former Chiefs Kansas City Should Sign for a Reunion in Free Agency
By Joe Summers
3. Carlos Dunlap - DE
Dunlap didn't play in the NFL last season and it's possible his playing days are done, but I'd still check in on the veteran pass rusher just in case. He had 34 tackles with eight deflected passes and four sacks with the Chiefs in 2022, and he's someone fans were clamoring for all year long as a potential mid-season addition.
With Mike Danna a free agent and Omenihu potentially hurt to start the year, Dunlap would make sense in a lot of the same ways Houston would. He's been here and has a plethora of savvy pass-rushing moves that the young cornerstones could learn, on top of still appearing to have effectiveness as it stands.
If Dunlap was willing to take a low-cost deal with a minimal role, he's the exact kind of veteran presence that could help the locker room return to the Super Bowl once again. Plus, he rather enjoyed his last parade - wouldn't he like another one?
His career spans 14 years and 100 sacks. He's one of the best pass rushers of this era and deserves to go out on top. I hope his playing days aren't truly over and that we see him on the field for one more run with Kansas City.
