3 Dark Horse Chiefs Who Could Win Super Bowl MVP

We all know Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are the most likely Chiefs to win Super Bowl MVP. But what under-the-radar names should you keep an eye out for?

The usual names are at the top of everyone's list to win Super Bowl MVP this year. It's not exactly bold to speculate that Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce or Isiah Pacheco will take home the award if the Chiefs win the big game.

But whether you're trying to come up with a fun pick for your Super Bowl party pool or you're looking for a betting option with odds for a big payout, who wants to pick the favorites?

The Chiefs have been getting major contributions from all over the roster this season, and these three dark horse players are serious threats to win Super Bowl MVP.

1. L'Jarius Sneed (+18000)

Let me start with something that may sound obvious, but is probably more important than people give it credit for: the Super Bowl MVP is going to be on the winning team. Only once has a player on the losing team won it (Chuck Howley), and that was back in Super Bowl V.

On the surface, that's not a groundbreaking observation, but it should actually have a big impact on how we think of this award. When picking a potential winner from a specific team, we can ignore all the potential game scenarios that involve that team losing.

So while a Chiefs blowout win isn't necessarily an especially likely outcome, a Chiefs blowout win conditional on the Chiefs winning in the first place is actually a decent likelihood.

And blowouts are the kind of game scripts where defensive players really have a chance at MVP. It probably takes a touchdown or a couple of interceptions to win the award, but when you're forcing your opponent to play catch-up and they're airing it out in obvious passing situations, DBs will get plenty of chances.

Nobody in the Chiefs secondary plays the ball better than L'Jarius Sneed. His 14 pass breakups were twice as many as anyone else on the defense, and he was the only Chief with more than 1 pick in the regular season.

So with the blowout potential and Sneed's ability to play the ball, it's not hard to like the potential 180-to-1 payout.
