3 Chiefs Most Likely to Be Traded Before Roster Cutdown Day
By Randy Gurzi
The Kansas City Chiefs have one more preseason game to get through, then they begin to focus on their push toward history. Kansas City has the chance to become the first team to win three Super Bowls in a row.
Looking to make that happen, they went out and added more firepower to the offense with Marquise Brown and Xavier Worthy. While they know those two will make the roster, several others are on the bubble.
That includes a few players who are talented but could be the victim of a numbers game. Here are three such players who the Chiefs might try and trade rather than release outright.
3. Neil Farrell, DT
A product of LSU, Neil Farrell began his career with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022. A fourth-round pick, Farrell had 12 tackles in nine games as a rookie. The Raiders didn't see him in their future plans and he was traded the following offseason.
Kansas City landed the 6-foot-4, 325-pounder for a sixth-round pick. He appeared in just three games with one tackle but had a tackle and batted pass in their Super Bowl win over the San Francisco 49ers.
As was the case with the Raiders in 2023, Farrell might not have a spot in Kansas City this year. They have their starters in place with Chris Jones and Derrick Nnadi and Mike Pennell is a trusted reserve. They could keep Farrell but there's also a chance they work to develop Fabiel Lovett, Sr. and see if any team would be willing to send a Day 3 pick for Farrell.
