2024-25 AFC West Opening Odds Indicate Chiefs Nearing History

Opening betting odds have officially been released for the 2024-25 NFL season and to no one's surprise, the Kansas City Chiefs are heavy favorites to win the AFC West.
Kansas City has eight consecutive AFC West titles, the second-longest streak in NFL history. The New England Patriots won the AFC East 11 straight times from 2009 to 2019 to hold the record, but the Chiefs can draw within two of tying the all-time mark.
Given the dominance Kansas City has shown since Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes came to town, I favor the team's chances to keep the run rolling.
AFC West 2024-25 Opening Odds Make Chiefs Overwhelming Favorites
The Chiefs are -220 at FanDuel Sportsbook, meaning you'd need to bet $22 to profit $10 if Kansas City wins the division.
Trailing behind the Chiefs are the Los Angeles Chargers at +350, the Las Vegas Raiders at +850 and the Denver Broncos at +2000. The "+" indicates those three teams are underdogs, and a $10 bet on the Chargers, for example, would profit $35.
Despite the significant changes made across the division, namely Jim Harbaugh being named the head coach of the Chargers, it's clear that this is the Chiefs' division to lose.
Over the last decade, the Chiefs are a remarkable 117-46 and are the only AFC West team with a winning record. The Broncos are 76-87, the Chargers are close behind at 75-88, and the Raiders are 71-92.
Until I see one of these teams beat Kansas City, I'll pick the Chiefs every time. The majority of last year's Super Bowl champion roster is back and the organization should have every opportunity to win a third straight Lombardi Trophy and pick up another AFC West title along the way.
