The Chiefs have just over two weeks until the NFL trade deadline with an obvious need at wide receiver, especially after JuJu Smith-Schuster's injury in Week 8. Luckily for Kansas City, one ideal target sounds desperate to be traded from his current team.

Panthers WR Diontae Johnson is toiling away on one of the league's worst teams. His talent is being wasted and he'd be the perfect option to improve the Chiefs' wideout group.

After Carolina's latest loss, Johnson sounded off on his teammates. The writing is on the wall, so it's time for Brett Veach to make a move.

Panthers WR Diontae Johnson Angry With Teammates

"Frustrated, but I can’t play every position on the field, and make every play," Johnson said after the loss. "Everybody gotta do their job, when it comes down to it. But yeah, it’s tough. But I just tell myself to keep going, regardless.”

Johnson battled through injuries to suit up for the contest, but he's on a team going nowhere watching his talent routinely wasted. He has 30 catches for 357 yards and three TDs despite catching passes from Bryce Young and Andy Dalton. Imagine what he could do with Patrick Mahomes slinging it instead.

He's on a manageable contract and could build his value on a contending team. Kansas City has a clear need and few players are as good a fit as Johnson is. With value as a punt returner as well, the Chiefs could utilize the former All-Pro in a variety of ways.

If Smith-Schuster's injury lingers, Veach needs to make this move. Even if it doesn't, Johnson raises the offense's ceiling and gives Kansas City a clearer path to a third straight Super Bowl.
