The Kansas City Chiefs are 15-1 going into the last week of the regular season. With the No. 1 seed and the first-round bye locked up, Kansas City will be resting multiple starters.

QB Patrick Mahomes is going to be on the sideline against the Denver Broncos and Carson Wentz will be under center. The Chiefs will have the playoffs run through Arrowhead Stadium as they chase their straight Super Bowl title.

This group has gotten healthier right in time for the postseason and will have two weeks before they play a meaningful game again. This Chiefs team is ready for the postseason, but there is an ideal free agent available that they could add.

EDGE Yannick Ngakoue was released by the New England Patriots on Dec. 31 after playing six games with them. He wasn't claimed on waivers and is free to sign with anyone he wants. Earlier this season, Ngakoue also played with the Baltimore Ravens.

Even though things didn't work out in those two situations, he is worth the dart throw at this point of the season. Having multiple players that can generate pressure and put opposing quarterbacks under duress goes a long way.

Kansas City has 39 team sacks this year but no one has double-digits. EDGE George Karlaftis is leading the way with eight sacks. Tershawn Wharton is second on the team in sacks (6.5) and Chris Jones has five sacks.

They have a solid rotation of guys that can get after quarterbacks, but adding Ngakoue would give them another option to throw out there. Across 134 career games, the 29-year-old has 238 total tackles, 148 QB hits, 72 TFLs, 70.5 sacks, and 21 forced fumbles.

Although he may not be the same force he was earlier in his career, Ngakoue still has the ability to be disruptive. The Maryland product would give the Chiefs some veteran depth and another player who could bring down the quarterback in the playoffs.
