Patrick Mahomes left a Super Bowl on the losing side for the second time in his career. Similar to the blowout loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl 55, the Chiefs offense struggled mightily as Mahomes faced a ton of pressure all game. Even after taking into account the disappointing play of the offensive line, Mahomes wasn't his usual self on Sunday.
After the game, the star quarterback took to social media to address his poor performance. Apologizing to Chiefs fans for letting them down, Mahomes thanked Chiefs Kingdom for their love and support.
While promising to continue to work and learn from the loss, Mahomes said they "will be back."
Patrick Mahomes Has Emotional Message for Chiefs Fans After Super Bowl Loss
Appreciate all the love and support from #ChiefsKingdom

I let y’all down today. I’ll always continue to work and try and learn and be better for it.
Want to give thanks to God for every opportunity he has given me.
We will be back.
Mahomes has nearly endless credit among the Chiefs fanbase. He has bailed his team out time and time again over his seven seasons as a starter in Kansas City.
The superstar QB has led the franchise to its most successful era, leading them to five Super Bowl appearances and three wins.
This was only the fourth postseason loss of Mahomes' career in 21 games. He is still on track to be the greatest quarterback of all time when it's all said and done. The fact that he is coming out and apologizing to fans immediately after a loss is why he is so beloved among the fanbase.
While Mahomes will certainly put in the work and get better in the offseason, the front office and the coaching staff also need to do the same.
It's about time an elite offensive unit is built around Mahomes. And that has to start with offensive line upgrades, receiver reinforcements, and potential changes in the offensive coaching staff.
