Opening Odds for Potential Chiefs vs. Bills AFC Championship Suggest Another Classic
By Joe Summers
After defeating the Houston Texans in convincing fashion on Saturday, the Kansas City Chiefs will now host the AFC Championship for the sixth time in the last seven years. They're waiting to find out if the Baltimore Ravens or Buffalo Bills are coming to town, though we already have opening odds for potential matchups.
The Chiefs are quite familiar with both the Ravens and Bills, particularly the latter. If it is indeed Josh Allen's squad coming to town, Kansas City should feel confident despite losing to Buffalo 30-21 early this season.
Patrick Mahomes is a perfect 3-0 against Allen in the playoffs. The last two matchups were extremely close and should they meet again, oddsmakers believe we have another classic in store.
Potential Chiefs vs. Bills AFC Championship Opening Odds
Spread: KC -1.5 (-102) | BUF +1.5 (-120)
Moneyline: KC (-110) | BUF (-106)
Total: 47.5 - Over (-115) | Under (-105)
FanDuel Sportsbook has the Chiefs as narrow -1.5 favorites with -110 odds on the moneyline, implying just a 50.45% chance that Kansas City wins the game. Considering what we've seen over the last few years, that's disrespectful to Andy Reid's group.
The Bills seem to have the Chiefs' number in the regular season, but that shouldn't concern anyone. Buffalo would be coming off a brutally difficult matchup with Baltimore and while the Bills won in November, this is a drastically different Chiefs team.
Isiah Pacheco, Hollywood Brown, Charles Omenihu, Jaylen Watson, and Harrison Butker all didn't play. DeAndre Hopkins had only recently arrived, and Travis Kelce caught only two passes for eight yards.
Luckily, none of those things will be true in the AFC title game. "Playoff Trav" is back after notching 117 yards and a TD against the Texans, while the first five players listed are all back in uniform. The Bills beat the Chiefs at their lowest. Can they beat them at their best?
Regardless of what happens in Bills vs. Ravens, the Chiefs jumped to +230 odds to win the Super Bowl following the Detroit Lions' loss to the Washington Commanders. Even when faced with a difficult matchup, Kansas City seems to emerge victorious. Here's hoping next week will be more of the same.
