One of the biggest stories entering the offseason surrounding the Kansas City Chiefs was the future of star tight end Travis Kelce. Following Kansas City's Super Bowl loss in February, speculation ran rampant that Kelce may retire. Although general manager Brett Veach hinted the star tight end was returning at the NFL Combine, Kelce confirmed it himself via a text to Pat McAfee.

With his return confirmed, Kelce seemed motivated to end his career on a high note. While the 35-year-old didn't have a bad statistical year last year, he didn't seem to be moving as fast. Although some decline in play is expected with age, many in the national media thought Kelce looked out of shape at points last season.

Kelce seemingly heard these complaints, and it looks like he has slimmed down this offseason. Though no official weight has been stated, looking at pictures, Kelce's weight loss is visible. As a result, Chiefs fans should be excited for what appears to be his last season.

Travis Kelce Looks Noticeably Slimmer Heading into OTAs

Last season, Kelce recorded 97 receptions on 133 targets for 823 yards and three touchdowns. Despite being an 80-yard+ receiver, the 35-year-old saw his lowest yards per reception (8.5) in his career. Kelce's low yards per reception contributed to the narrative that he was overweight and could retire, which Chiefs fans didn't want.

His apparent weight loss and a fully healthy receiving corps in 2025 should help his yards per reception return to above 10 in 2025. If Kelce achieves this, Chiefs fans have every right to shove it in people's faces and say, "You really thought Kelce was regressing?".

Still, Kelce's potential retirement following the 2025 season looms large. While no Chiefs fan wants it to happen, everyone knows it's inevitable. Thus, Chiefs Kingdom must enjoy what little time they have left with Kelce in 2025.
