With Tuesday's cut-down day officially behind us, fans across the league are seeing young players and veterans alike get snatched up by new teams following their respective release.
One former Kansas City Chiefs veteran who helped the team to a pair of Super Bowl championships was caught up in the rush of roster cuts but did not have to wait very long to find a new home within the NFL.
While Chiefs fans are surely happy to see Marquez Valdez-Scantling not have to sweat out the job search for an extended period, they might not be as pleased to hear that it is the San Francisco 49ers who have agreed on a contract with the veteran, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Ex-Chiefs WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling Signs with Niners
This had to be a surprise for the two-time NFL champion after he signed a one-year, $4 million contract with the Seattle Seahawks this offseason. Typically, a player who received a $3 million guarantee as part of his deal, like Valdes-Scantling did from Seattle, would be considered safe from roster cuts at the end of training camp. That was not the case here as the team ripped the band-aid off without any concerns of the financial loss.
While the Seahawks did not feel that retaining Valdes-Scantling was worth it to their franchise, the Niners jumped at the opportunity to add the proven veteran to their roster, as San Francisco's wide receiver room is an absolute mess entering Week 1. Between injuries to high-priced veterans, young players demanding new contracts, or unproven players being thrust into positions where they are depended on to produce, things are not going smoothly for the 49ers thus far.
What Valdes-Scantling is ultimately able to do in San Francisco is anyone's guess. The Niners hope to return to the playoffs this season and they will need the veteran to be at his best if they are to get there. If he is capable of that at the age of 31, which he'll turn in October of this year, then Seattle could ultimately regret helping its division rival out.
This past season, Valdes-Scantling split time with the Buffalo Bills and New Orleans Saints. His time in the Big Easy was the more productive stint of the two for the veteran wideout, as he started in all eight of the games he played for the Saints and scored four touchdowns on 17 receptions for 385 yards receiving.
In two seasons with Kansas City, Valdes-Scantling was a regular contributor as he reeled in 63 catches for 1,002 yards and three touchdowns.
