NFL Makes Big Patrick Mahomes Announcement Ahead of Week 12 Clash vs. Panthers
By Jovan Alford
The Kansas City Chiefs are looking to get back into the win column on Sunday as they go on the road to play the Carolina Panthers.
The back-to-back Super Bowl champions suffered their first loss of the 2024 regular season to the Buffalo Bills last week, losing 30-21 in Orchard Park, NY. The Chiefs were down as much as nine points in the fourth quarter.
However, the Chiefs tried to battle back as they cut the deficit down to two points, thanks to a Patrick Mahomes’ touchdown pass to Noah Gray. But it wasn’t enough, as the Bills got the last laugh, thanks to star QB Josh Allen scoring a 26-yard rushing touchdown to put the game out of reach.
Mahomes didn’t play his best game as he completed 22-of-33 passes for 196 yards, three TDs, and two interceptions. Two of three TD passes went to backup tight end Noah Gray, including the aforementioned fourth-quarter score.
However, the NFL didn’t take too kindly to Mahomes’ gesture after throwing the touchdown pass and reprimanded him for it.
On Saturday, Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network reported that the league fined Mahomes $14,069 for unsportsmanlike conduct (violent gesture) after celebrating a touchdown pass against the Bills.
The superstar quarterback was seen making a gun gesture, which the league has emphasized cracking down on this season. However, this is only the second time in Mahomes’ career that he’s been fined.
The first happened last December against the Bills when Mahomes was seen “verbally abusing” officials and was handed a $50,000 fine. Mahomes will try to have a clean game on Sunday and not do anything to entice the league to fine him again.
