The Kansas City Chiefs have some difficult decisions to make this offseason. After failing to complete the first-ever three-peat, the Chiefs will have to make some big decisions on multiple players hitting free agency.
Trade rumors have started flying around, with San Francisco 49ers receiver Deebo Samuel requesting a trade in his exit meetings. Some fans were wondering if he could be an option for the Chiefs but that won't be happening.
According to Bob Fescoe, Samuel isn't an option for the Chiefs and he added that there could be some clarity around Trey Smith this weekend.
Per Source: Deebo Samuel is not an option for KC now. There could be clarity on Trey Smith as early as this weekend.

Chiefs Aren’t in on the Deebo Samuel Sweepstakes
The Chiefs could use another weapon in the passing attack. Rashee Rice suffered a serious knee injury in 2024. They traded for DeAndre Hopkins but he was underwhelming. That leaves Xavier Worthy as the only weapon in the room going into 2025.
Granted, the Chiefs will use free agency and the draft to bolster this position group. It just doesn't appear to be in their best interest to add Samuel into the fold. He has one year left on his deal with a cap hit of $15.8 million per Spotrac.
The Chiefs only have $3.2 million in cap space but will see some key players hitting free agency like Trey Smith, Justin Reid, Charles Omenihu, and Marquise Brown.
Bringing in a player like Samuel would be great for the offense, but it doesn't make sense financially with all the other moves Kansas City has to make.
One of the biggest question marks for the Chiefs is if they'll be able to retain Smith. According to Spotrac, his projected market value is listed at $19.7 million a year. That's a big number, but Smith has been a consistent wrecking ball in the trenches.
That seems to be the Chiefs' priority leading into free agency.
