The Kadarius Toney experience has been a whirlwind during his time in the NFL. What started as a first-round pick with the New York Giants turned into an adventure when he was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2022. While he caught 41 passes for 340 yards and three touchdowns, he was more known for his mistakes, including an offside penalty that negated a potential game-winning touchdown in a Nov. 2023 matchup with the Buffalo Bills.

With an accusation that the Chiefs falsely placed him on the injury report ahead of Super Bowl LVIII, Toney’s tenure ended when he was released before the 2024 season. An arrest and an accusation of strangling his girlfriend came in February, leaving him on the market as a free agent..

It led many to believe that Toney was calling it a career during a post on Instagram Live on Thursday night. But it turns out that the 26-year-old isn’t ready to hang up the cleats as he announced a bizarre career move.

Former Chiefs WR Kadarius Toney Wants to Become a Rapper

Toney went on his Instagram account to clear the air after fans ran wild with the announcement that he wanted to be known as a rapper under the name “Yung Joka.” In a post on his story, Toney clarified that he is not retiring and appreciated the exposure for his music.

“Goofies on the net hollerin I’m retiring,” Toney wrote. “Just want klout. Ain’t speakin on the [poop emoji] nomo. …Love da attention for my music tho. It’s been a passion.”

According to his Spotify bio, Yung Joka is “known for his melodic voice” and “speaks about facing different adversities, problems and deaths along the way to in his lifetime.” He has also released the Warrior EP in 2022 and the Road 2 Riches tape in 2023.

Toney may be focused on his music, but his play on the field has been anything but a soothing sound for the teams he played for. The Giants grew tired of Toney’s inconsistent play and questioned whether he was more focused on his time in the studio during practice. Toney also lacked attention to detail and even earned the nickname “Yung Drops” during his time with the Chiefs.

It led to Toney getting another opportunity with the receiver-needy Browns, but that didn’t pan out with just one target in three games. The track record doesn’t suggest that another team will take a chance on the mercurial wideout. But while Toney may not be dropping passes in the near future, he will look to drop bars as he puts an extra focus on his new career.
