Kadarius Toney in Hot Water With New Head Coach After Week 14
By Joe Summers
Kadarius Toney had a miserable effort on Sunday with the Browns and it sounds like his head coach, Kevin Stefanski, isn't happy with the former Chiefs wideout.
Toney played two special teams snaps in the fourth quarter, earning a taunting penalty while making a fair catch and muffing a punt to seal the loss.
Cleveland got destroyed by Pittsburgh and would've lost the game regardless, but Toney's effort could spell the end of his time with the organization.
Browns Coach Calls Out Kadarius Toney for Penalty
Stefanski said that the penalty "will be addressed" and noted how disappointing it was. Toney has all of the talent in the world, though his lack of focus and continued problems taint what could be one of the most dangerous players in the NFL.
There's no denying how electrifying Toney is with the ball in his hands. Actually getting the ball in his hands is a consistent problem though, as Chiefs fans are well aware.
Going to Cleveland was supposed to give Toney an opportunity to rebuild his value and hopefully earn a contract next year whether with the Browns or elsewhere. Instead, his consistent issues have hurt his reputation and leave the young player potentially without a home moving forward.
Based on Stefanski's comments, it's unlikely the Browns want him back. There likely will be a team who hopes they can get the most out of Toney, though he might have to stick on a practice squad first.
Either way, it's a disappointing turn of events for the guy who set the Super Bowl record for the longest punt return and won a ring with the Chiefs.
At the least, Kansas City is happy to be rid of Toney, yet there's still hope he could turn into a reliable player in this league.
