Ideal Chiefs Trade Target Suffers Devastating Week 8 Injury Just Before Deadline
The Kansas City Chiefs are 7-0 and are the only remaining squad that is undefeated. Despite suffering countless injuries, they've found ways to be victorious.
Last week, Kansas City acquired receiver DeAndre Hopkins from the Tennessee Titans to give them a veteran playmaker. In his debut, Hopkins reeled in two catches for 29 yards. He'll get better with time but having him on the offense is much-needed.
Even though they acquired Hopkins, there were rumors that the Chiefs were still interested in adding more playmakers. But one of their potential targets went down with a season-ending injury on Sunday.
NFL News: Christian Kirk Suffered a Broken Collarbone
According to Jordan Schultz, Jacksonville WR Christian Kirk broke his collarbone and is now out for the remainder of the season.
ESPN's Adam Schefter revealed that Kirk was drawing a lot of interest around the league and was expected to be dealt with prior to the trade deadline.
The Chiefs were believed to be interested in his services but his injury ended all possibilities of being traded. The Texas A&M product should have been a nice addition to the passing attack. In his career, Kirk has notched 404 receptions for 5,176 receiving yards and 29 touchdowns.
Instead of bringing in Kirk, the Chiefs will likely rely on the playmakers they have in the building. Juju Smith-Schuster is dealing with a hamstring injury but it doesn't appear to be serious. Add Hopkins and Xavier Worthy to the list of pass catchers.
The Chiefs feel confident in these guys, in large part to Patrick Mahomes. Having him under center changes everything and allows them to stay content going forward.
