Despite it being late July, free agent acquisitions never cease in the NFL. The Kansas City Chiefs lost a massive portion of their secondary this offseason by trading Trent McDuffie while letting Jaylen Watson and Bryan Cook depart on the open market.
However, another member of that Fab Five from the 2022 Chiefs draft class was Joshua Williams, who joined the Tennessee Titans earlier this summer on a two-year deal. Reuniting him with former Chiefs assistant general manager and now the head front office voice in Tennessee, Mike Borgonzi.
We've covered Williams' departure, but fresh news came out today that Nazeeh Johnson, the seventh-round selection in that '22 class, has also agreed to terms with the Titans, reuniting with both Borgonzi and Williams. Sometimes it feels like, for a multi-billion-dollar corporation, the NFL can be a small place indeed. Nazeeh Johnson is just another example of that.

Johnson's four years in KC had bumps along the road rather than smooth sailing. As is the case with many day three draft picks. It's actually impressive he stayed around for as long as he did, which points to resilience and the trust the organization has shown in him.
His best season came in 2024, when he played 48% of defensive snaps, accumulating 56 total tackles, one sack, and three passes defensed. Other than that, the 5'10", 200 lb Johnson was mainly a special-team player for Dave Toub.
He now joins Williams to complement what is a pretty sparse Titans secondary, perhaps pointing to more opportunities available. He'll benefit from going from one defensive mastermind, Steve Spagnuolo, to Robert Saleh.
Aside from last season, Williams himself was a pretty constant presence for the Chiefs on the field, playing over 1,100 snaps and accumulating 97 total tackles, one sack, and 18 passes defensed. And who could forget the pick he had on Joe Burrow in the fourth quarter of the 2023 AFC Championship game?
Nevertheless, Nazeeh Johnson's signing with the Titans is the end of an era for the Chiefs' 2022 secondary draft class. All have found new homes within the span of months. It goes to show how quickly this league moves and the trust KC has in Spags to get the job done with a whole new crop of players.
