The Kansas City Chiefs appear to have their 90-man preseason roster set and ready to go for the start of Organized Team Activities (OTAs). While much of the starting roster is set, there is a lot of competition for backup roles at many positions. Unlike the Chiefs, many other teams are still setting their 90-man rosters, including the Cleveland Browns.

On Monday, Cleveland made multiple roster moves. One of which was cutting former Chiefs practice squad safety Trey Dean, according to Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal. Though Dean never saw the field in Kansas City, he was a part of their Super Bowl 58-winning roster.

Browns Cut Former Chiefs Safety Trey Dean

Dean played five years of college football at the University of Florida, where he recorded 259 tackles, 15 TFLs, five sacks, four interceptions, three fumble recoveries and one forced fumble. After a successful collegiate career, Dean went undrafted during the 2023 Draft and signed with the New York Jets. He spent the 2023 season on the Jets' practice squad but was not signed to a future contract at the end of the season.

As a result, he ended up on Kansas City's practice squad for that year's Super Bowl. Dean then signed a reserve/futures contract with the Chiefs, which gave him a chance to make the practice squad again in 2024. Unfortunately, Dean was cut during training camp in favor of veteran safety Deon Bush, who made the practice squad.

Despite never playing a snap for Kansas City, Dean gets to call himself a Super Bowl champion. Even though that's a dream come true for him, Chiefs Kingdom never got a chance to form a bond with him. Still, Chiefs fans wish Dean the best of luck finding a landing spot in the NFL.
