Former Kansas City Chiefs star Tyreek Hill has done just as much to make himself known for his actions off the field as he has for all that he's accomplished on the gridiron.

After the Miami Dolphins failed to reach the postseason during the 2024 campaign, Hill's actions and words placed him under the microscope more than usual. You can't just attempt to force your way out of a city when things aren't going right, then act like nothing ever happened once the following season rolls around.

Despite his history of success as a member of the Chiefs, Hill's quarterback in Miami is doing everything that he can to hold the All-Pro wideout accountable for his actions.

Tua Tagovailoa Backtracks Recent Public Criticism of Ex-Chief Tyreek Hill

While Hill is back in the saddle for the Dolphins this fall, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa hasn't forgotten what his wide receiver said and did at the end of the 2024 season. He noted that the two have to work on their relationship because of it.

Naturally, those comments were heard far and wide. This resulted in the Dolphins' star quarterback going on NFL Network to clarify his comments and walk back what was received by some to be public criticism of Hill.

“I don’t feel it’s me talking bad about my teammate,” Tagovailoa said, via NBC Sports. “I’m just trying to hold him accountable, because that’s what we try to do with everyone on our team. And if this is what we say the standard is, that’s what the standard is, and no one is exempt from it.”

Nothing that Tagovailoa says here should be considered a shot at Hill. In reality, this is what should be the norm across the league when it comes to how one should conduct themselves, whether they're inside or outside the locker room.

Hill has every reason to walk the company line this season as he has the potential to negotiate a new contract with the Dolphins following the 2025 campaign. If he doesn't accomplish that, he will enter the 2026 season in the final year of his deal and would be playing without any of the added securities that come with a long-term deal.

The six-time All-Pro had a very respectable 2024 season, compared to the rest of the receivers in the NFL, finishing the year with 81 receptions for 959 yards and six touchdowns. For Hill, though, this marked the first time since his rookie year that he appeared in at least 15 games and failed to cross the 1,000-yard receiving plateau.

At 31 years old, it's fair to question whether Hill's best days are behind him. Even if that isn't the case, he owes his best effort to Miami this season, even if his future in the league finds him outside of South Beach.

From a financial perspective alone, there are millions of reasons why the former Chiefs WR should not only be on his best behavior this season but also try to turn back the clock and be the best version of himself on the field that we've seen.
