Former Chiefs All-Pro Mitchell Schwartz made a major declaration after Kansas City's disappointing loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Head coach Andy Reid deserves criticism after a questionable decision to kick an extra point down three late in the fourth quarter. However, former All-Pro Mitchell Schwartz called out Reid and defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo for a different reason.

Schwartz was stunned at the defensive game plan. Clearly, he had reason to be. Spagnuolo's unit gave up 30 points, their most since the Eagles Super Bowl win, and were routinely beaten by Josh Allen.

Former Chiefs All-Pro Mitchell Schwartz Calls Out Poor Game Plan

"I don't understand the rush plan today," Schwartz wrote on X (better known as Twitter) before explaining why in detail.

Allen destroyed Kansas City's vaunted defense, throwing for 262 yards and a TD while rushing for another 55 and a score. He was the best player on the field, even better than Patrick Mahomes, and the Chiefs couldn't do anything to slow him down.

Chris Jones and the excellent defensive line didn't record a single sack, letting Allen march down the field with regularity. Spagnuolo is the NFL's best defensive coordinator and has earned all of the benefit of the doubt, though this loss was a failure.

Schwartz is in the right here. The plan wasn't adequate, though it'll become easier to create a cohesive strategy once Jaylen Watson and Charles Omenihu are back in the fold.

The Chiefs have to lick their wounds and go back to the drawing board. Luckily, a matchup with the lowly Patriots awaits before a pair of divisional matchups. Kansas City still has full control of its destiny but this should be viewed as a wake-up call in a critical moment.
