The Kansas City Chiefs are forever going to be tied to receiver Tyreek Hill based simply on what he meant to the organization and the career of Patrick Mahomes. While Hill's departure has been further confirmation of the greatness of both players, there is no denying it left a hole the franchise is yet to find an answer for. However, this hasn't prevented the team from playing in three straight Super Bowls and etching itself in NFL history as one of the greatest teams to ever exist.

On the flip side, things haven't been going so swimmingly for the former Chiefs receiver.

At the end of a frustrating 2024 season, Hill made the decision he no longer wanted to play for the Miami Dolphins. The veteran was unwilling to play in the second half of the team's final game and quickly said he was "out" of Miami. The receiver is an all-time great and one of the most explosive playmakers the league has seen. However, this was the equivalent of a spoiled child throwing a tantrum when things didn't fall their way. It was a bad look for a player Miami has paid top dollar to be the number one option.

Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill Addressed the Frustrating Ending to the 2024 Season Ahead of OTAs

Tyreek Hill addressed the media for the first time in OTAs, talking about his attitude and how 2024 ended. Hill noted that "it's always the next day mentality" is undeniably ironic considering how the 2024 season ended. The veteran continued that he wanted to be "trying to prove myself as one of those guys that this team can depend on in crucial moments." Obviously, this doesn't include the final game of the season if Hill decides the game no longer matters, however.

Something that wasn't lost on a reporter present who instantly followed this statement by asking Hill what he said to teammates after quitting on the team at the end of the season. The receiver opted not to answer, offering "I'm looking to move forward from that," making his previous comments all the more ironic.

It didn't help matters that Hill followed this by discussing a need to prove to his teammates "I'm still one of them ones." This has never been in doubt, with only an incapable pundit questioning the elite ability of Hill as a receiver and playmaker. At his peak, no one in the league had the speed and ability to leave the field behind as Hill has.

With that said, how much is this worth if you cannot contribute to a winning culture? Hill's frustration with losing pushed the receiver to make awful decisions and quit on his team. Not taking further accountability and offering a me-over-we sentiment is perhaps the reason why the Chiefs were comfortable moving on from Hill and haven't missed a Super Bowl in the time since.
