The Kansas City Chiefs are set to have one of their deepest receiver rooms in the Patrick Mahomes era this season. Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, Marquise "Hollywood" Brown, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Jalen Royals are the players Kansas City will be relying the most on. The sixth receiver spot is a battle between Nikko Remigo, Tyquan Thornton and Jason Brownlee.
That said, former Chiefs receiver Justyn Ross saw the writing on the wall for his chance to make the roster heading into training camp. Therefore, he requested and was granted his release from the team. Now a free agent, Ross recently had a tryout with an NFC team that seemingly likes to sign former Chiefs.

Former Chiefs WR Justyn Ross Tries Out with Saints
On Tuesday, Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports reported that Ross worked out with the New Orleans Saints. If the Saints chose to sign Ross, not only would he have a chance to make their roster, but he could join the multiple other former Chiefs in New Orleans.
The Saints have already brought in Tyrann Mathieu, Khalen Saunders, Justin Reid, Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Willie Gay. So, it wouldn't be a surprise to see them sign Ross in the upcoming days.
Chiefs Kingdom was really hoping the 25-year-old would be able to catch on in Kansas City. Although Ross ran a 4.64-second 40-yard dash, his speed would still show on the football field. As a result, he became the training camp darling for Chiefs fans during the two seasons he spent with them.
Unfortunately, his speed never translated to in-game success during the regular season. During his two years in Kansas City, the former undrafted wide receiver recorded six receptions on 12 targets for 53 yards. Given all the competition in the receiver room this year, the 25-year-old knew there was no way, based on past performance, he would make the roster.
If Ross does join the Saints, his road to a roster spot may not be too difficult. Beyond their top receivers -- Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, and Brandin Cooks -- their depth isn't very proven. Sure, Ross hasn't accomplished much in the NFL, but he has been around championship teams and learned from some great receivers.
Regardless of whether he signs with the Saints, Chiefs fans wish Ross the best in his future.
