The Kansas City Chiefs are getting ready to report to training camp in the coming weeks. But for some players their season began way back in March.
It’s the world of broadcasting where a slew of former players have found a career after their playing days are over. While the Chiefs slung footballs during minicamp, others who used to wear red have spent the past six months slinging hot takes in anticipation of this season.
Unfortunately, one former Chiefs quarterback has thrown out his last take at his current job as part of a surprising decision before teams report to camp later this month.
Former Chiefs QB Chase Daniel Affected by Shuffle at FS1
According to The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand, former Chiefs quarterback Chase Daniel is one of the on-air analysts and personalities who were affected by a series of moves at FS1.
Daniel was part of “The Facility” which featured fellow former NFL players Emmanuel Acho, James Jones, and LeSean McCoy. The show was intended to give an athlete’s perspective on current sports topics, but the show has now ended less than a year after making its debut in 2024.
While Daniel still has a role on The Athletic’s “Scoop City” podcast with NFL beat reporter Dianna Russini and his own podcast “Chasin’ It With Chase Daniel & Trey Wingo”, his role on “The Facility” was one of his first attempts to get on television outside of a part-time in-studio analyst for NFL Network’s “NFL GameDay Final” in 2022 and a full-time analyst for “NFL Total Access” in 2023.
Daniel played 13 years in the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Missouri and spent three seasons with the Chiefs from 2013 to 2015. Despite being in the league for more than a decade, Daniel only appeared in 74 games and started five of them, posting a 68.1% completion percentage for 1,746 yards, nine touchdowns, and seven interceptions.
While Daniel’s show was affected by the moves, which also included the cancellation of FS1’s other two morning shows, “Speak” and “Breakfast Ball,” it isn’t all bad for the former signal-caller. Marchand also reports that Daniel and some of the other hosts, including former NFL star Keyshawn Johnson, could be reassigned to new shows, leaving the possibility that Daniel could be on another show before the season starts.
Perhaps that could be the start of a new beginning for Daniel in the realm of television, but for now, he’s a host without a show as the season approaches.
