With the Kansas City Chiefs missing their top-two wide receivers because of injury, some fans believed the team could reunite with veteran wideout Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

Valdes-Scantling was shockingly cut earlier this week by the Buffalo Bills after they made a huge trade for Cleveland Browns WR Amari Cooper.

The former Chief struggled to get on the field in Buffalo, only playing 39 percent of offensive snaps. He also appeared in six games but only recorded two receptions (nine targets) for 26 yards.

However, despite those struggles in Buffalo, Valdes-Scantling returning to Kansas City, wouldn’t be the worst thing for the Chiefs’ offense. Nonetheless, the reunion will be put on hold, as the veteran pass catcher has received interest from an NFC team in desperate need of receiver help.

Chiefs News: Marquez Valdes-Scantling Lands Workout With New Orleans Saints

According to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the former Kansas City receiver will fly to New Orleans on Sunday night to visit and work out for the Saints on Monday. Rapoport adds if all goes well, Valdes-Scantling could land in New Orleans.

The Saints are surprisingly in the same situation as the Chiefs as their top two receivers (Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed) are banged up. New Orleans could use Valdes-Scantling who averaged 15.9 yards per reception in his two seasons with KC.

With Valdes-Scantling off the table for the Chiefs, Kansas City will continue to search the WR trade market ahead of next month’s deadline. Luckily for the Chiefs, several receivers should be available for them to choose from.
