Former Chiefs Head Coach Suddenly Being Targeted by AFC Team
By Joe Summers
Kansas City Chiefs fans are enjoying the golden era of football in this town with an opportunity to win a third consecutive Super Bowl, cementing this team as perhaps the most successful group in NFL history.
This demonstrative dominance isn't taken for granted. Those who have supported this team for years remember how bad things used to be, going roughly 25 years without a single playoff win. The lucky ones who have supported those teams remember what the losses felt like and if you were there, you'll find Wednesday's coaching news humorous.
Former Chiefs head coach Todd Haley, who held the mantle from 2009-2011, is reportedly under consideration to join Aaron Glenn's staff with the New York Jets.

Glenn was hired as the New York Jets' head coach and comes with a sterling reputation. Purely from a Kansas City perspective, the idea that Haley could have a prominent role will make Chiefs fans giggle.
Haley has worked in the NFL since 1995, though his overpowering personality and dismissal of typical common courtesies made him a unique figure in Kansas City. He finished with a 19-26 record, getting fired after Week 14 of the 2011 campaign, representing one of the final coaches in Chiefs lore before Andy Reid led the organization to prominence.
Romeo Crennel was the bridge between Haley and Reid, overseeing the darkest days in franchise history. His short tenure was notable though, as it allowed Kansas City to secure Reid's services and put this team on a path to success.
After leaving the Chiefs, Haley spent time at a high school, the USFL and the UFL, most recently coaching for the Memphis Showboats. He's long been considered to have a bright offensive mind and perhaps the time away from the NFL has left him better-equipped to handle the off-field aspects of the job.
Regardless, the last time that Kansas City wasn't a successful football team came disturbingly close to Haley's watch. There's no ill-will felt, yet all fans should be smiling about how far the Chiefs have come in the last 15 years.
