The Kansas City Chiefs have had a number of former depth pieces change landing spots this offseason. It is typical of a boring offseason and gives fans something to follow as they await the return of the regular season. Most notably, the Chiefs lost DeAndre Hopkins, who signed with wishful KC rival the Baltimore Ravens.

Outside of this, the Chiefs have retained nearly every key contributor, keeping intact a team that has been to three straight Super Bowls. There isn't any reason to believe this dynasty is going anywhere as long as Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes remain healthy.

With this in mind, Kansas City fans have little better to do than track the landing spots of former players. This includes Dicaprio Bootle, who has signed with the Detroit Lions. The corner was an undrafted free agent that the Chiefs signed ahead of the 2021 season. After spending a year in Kansas City, the defender was waived in 2022, spending time with the Los Angeles Chargers and the Carolina Panthers.

The Chiefs' moving on remains the right decision, as the roster had enough depth in the secondary. Bootle's highest upside is as a special-teams option and a bottom-of-the-depth-chart corner. Kansas City turning the page made sense, and the defender bouncing around the league since the franchise made the decision speaks to this.

Still, having Bootle sign with a contender that won't be a threat to the Chiefs is a great development. One that gives the corner a great atmosphere to attempt to continue his development and work his way into a surprise contributing role. While the Lions' starting and backup roles are locked in, the bottom of the depth chart is still very much in question.

This is the role Bootle must attempt to win with one of the NFC's top contenders. After the Philadelphia Eagles, there is an easy argument that the Lions are the best team in the conference. Regardless, it is a great opportunity for Bootle and further evidence that the Chiefs made the right decision.
