Former Chiefs Defender Kicked to Curb by New Team in Week 17

Over the years, the Kansas City Chiefs have mastered the art of finding value on the margins. They have consistently tried and succeeded in finding players who failed on their previous stops and turned them into contributors.
One of those players was cornerback Kelvin Joseph. The former second-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys, Joseph bounced around the league for a couple of years before signing with the Chiefs during their postseason run last year. After signing a reserve/future contract with Kansas City, the Chiefs won the Super Bowl, earning Joseph a ring.
Joseph spent the training camp and the preseason with the Chiefs, appearing in three games and recording 11 tackles. He was waived before the roster cutdown deadline. Since then, he continued to try his luck with various practice squads, most recently with the Minnesota Vikings.
After not getting a chance with the Vikings, Joseph was released on Thursday, making him an available option before the regular season ends.
NFL News: Vikings Release Cornerback Kelvin Joseph
Joseph appeared in two games with the Colts this season, exclusively playing special teams snaps. In fact, that's how he has been used for most of his career.
This is the latest in a long list of disappointing pro career trajectory for Joseph. Once a promising prospect, Joseph never had the chance to establish himself in the NFL. Before declaring for the NFL Draft, Joseph had spent a year at LSU before sitting out his sophomore season because of NCAA transfer rules. He played a season at Kentucky and started in nine games before entering the draft.
His lack of experience came back to bite him in the NFL but as a 25-year-old defender with some physical and athletic tools, there is a chance Joseph could still bounce back and have himself a career.
