Former Chief Signs With New Team Just 1 Week After KC Release

The Kansas City Chiefs clinched a playoff spot with an ugly Week 13 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Despite underwhelming performances throughout the season, the Chiefs are looking like they will clinch the division title for the ninth season in a row. While fans are getting ready for the postseason, the front office is continuing to make roster moves to set themselves up for the final stretch of the season.
With that objective in mind, the Chiefs made a couple of transactions last week, including releasing DE Cameron Thomas and terminating the practice squad contracts of DE Truman Jones, and offensive tackle Lucas Niang.
Jones did not waste any time signing with a new team. On Tuesday, Patriots insider Doug Kyed reported that the 24-year-old defender was signing with New England. The team released offensive lineman Michael Jordan, who started for the team this season, from the practice squad to make room for Jones.
NFL News: Patriots Sign Former Chiefs DE Truman Jones
Jones first signed with the Chiefs in the 2023 offseason after going undrafted out of Harvard. Since then, he has been a part of the practice squad after failing to make the 53-man roster for two seasons in a row. The former Harvard standout will now try to establish his NFL career in New England.
Considering where the Patriots are as an organization, Jones could find an opportunity there. Sitting at 3-10 with four games left in their season, the Patriots could elevate Jones in a few games in the final stretch of the season to properly evaluate the young and talented defender.
