The Kansas City Chiefs have experienced significant roster turnover over the years, with general manager Brett Veach's desire to search in the depths to find reliable contributors. It's worked in the aggregate, but some good players have gone elsewhere as a result.
It's led to finding some truly valuable guys to help this dynastic run, though some could argue Veach has missed as well. Despite his succes, not every experiment has worked out.
One of those failed attempts at finding a diamond in the rough is now asking NFL teams to give him another chance following strong efforts in the UFL.
I can definitely still play out there

Former Chiefs DE Taco Charlton Asking for Another NFL Chance
In a social media post on X (formerly known as twitter), ex-Chiefs defensive end Taco Charlton declared, "I can definitely still play out there."
Ignoring his tremendous username "TheSupremeTaco", Charlton has a great argument in his favor. He most recently appeared in the UFL, notching six sacks in one year with Birmingham and getting another 2.5 in only seven games in Arlington. He projects to still be a quality rotational defender in his age-30 season, and conventional wisdom suggests that you can never have too many defensive linemen.
Charlton spent just one year with Kansas City in 2021, appearing in seven games and notching a pair of sacks while playing a mere 90 total snaps. He didn't prove enough to stick with the team, though his recent production may suggest otherwise.
Based on this tweet, however, it seems like Charlton's NFL prospects aren't overly exciting. He bounced around the league despite being selected in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys, spending time with them and the Miami Dolphins, Chiefs, Pittsburgh Steelers, Jacksonville Jaguars, San Francisco 49ers and Chicago Bears before joining the UFL.
If that many teams give you a chance and elect to go in a different direction, that says more about your potential than it does the evaluation process of any of those individual teams. Charlton didn't perform, notching just 8.5 sacks over five years despite the pedigree, but he may have learned something to elevate him during his time in another league.
Charlton deserves another opportunity or at the very least, a chance to break a practice squad. Otherwise, he'll go back to the drawing board.
Veach always takes chances on failed high draft picks. This one didn't work out and there's little reason to believe that Kansas City would be interested in him, yet enough organizations need players with his athletic profile to think that he'll at least be invited to a practice down the line in 2025.
Here's wishing Charlton the best on his next opportunity, yet it's obvious it won't come with the Chiefs.
