Former Chiefs QB Chase Daniel Lands New Job at ESPN
As reported by Front Office Sports, ex-Chiefs quarterback Chase Daniel has been hired as a college football analyst at ESPN. He previously worked on the show "The Facility" on FS1, but was part of an organizational layoff that eliminated the program.
Daniel is one of the most loved quarterbacks in Missouri lore. Originally from Texas, just like Patrick Mahomes, Daniel starred as a Missouri Tiger and led the college to its most successful seasons of the last 30 years, narrowly missing out on a BCS National Championship appearance in 2008. He turned that into a successful professional career before becoming a broadcaster, but still has an ardent fan base in Kansas City.
He played for six teams in his 13-season career, cementing himself as the prototypical ideal backup signal-caller. That's not a slight, and Daniel made a lovely living serving that role.
During his three years with the Chiefs, Daniel completed over 63% of his passes while notching a touchdown and an interception. He's one of the most successful backup quarterbacks of this era, routinely getting large contracts for what would ultimately become limited playing time. Daniel is a smart football player, and it makes sense that ESPN would target him for this role.
After seeing him on FS1, Chiefs fans will now be able to watch Daniel offer his thoughts on the college game that made him so famous. It's great to see, and there's no question that the Tigers faithful will be cheering him on.
