It's been a wild few years for former Kansas City Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill, who has seen his old team make three consecutive Super Bowls in his absence. While the five-time All-Pro has achieved tremendous individual success, the last two years have been rocky.
Hill endured the worst year of his career on a per-game basis in 2024, notching just 959 receiving yards and six TDs one season after catching 119 passes for 1,799 yards and 13 TDs to lead the NFL in the latter two categories.
Now, his offseason has taken another sour turn. Entering a pivotal few months in his career, Hill will be sidelined due to an injury.
#Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel told reporters that WR Tyreek Hill had surgery on his wrist to fix a ligament issue. He’ll be out most of the offseason.

Former Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill Undergoes Offseason Surgery
According to Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel, Hill underwent surgery on his wrist to solve a ligament issue. He'll miss most of offseason training, which is poor timing for someone trying to overcome a disappointing performance.
After widely being considered the single-best receiver in the NFL, Hill ranked just 43rd out of 89 qualified wideouts at Pro Football Focus. He's suggested that he wants a reworked contract with more security, though he's still got two years left on his current deal that carries a cap hit north of $28 million in 2025 and over $51 million in 2026.
Regardless of whether Miami is interested in restructuring his contract or even trading him elsewhere, this surgery complicates matters. He's 30 years old with a growing list of injury concerns, and his off-field troubles have diminished his value whether fair or not. The Dolphins have seemingly reached their ceiling as long as Tua Tagovailoa is the quarterback, so it's understandable to think Miami would move Hill if they can find a suitor.
At that price though, their potential trade return is diminishing by the day. Unless Hill can prove that he's healthy and ready to get back to his 2023 self, his contract might be one the organization simply can't trade without getting pennies on the dollar in return.
We'll see what happens, but it's clear the Chiefs moved on from Hill at the right time.
