Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs suffered through a miserable Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles, getting crushed 40-22 in a game that wasn't as close as that final score suggests.

Kelce managed to catch only four passes for 39 yards, dropping two key first-quarter passes that helped cause an insurmountable deficit. The Chefs were thoroughly dominated and the Eagles deserve to celebrate their well-earned victory.

That said, one starter crossed a line. Philadelphia starting safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, who is known as one of the most disliked players in the NFL, hopped on social media and took an unacceptably disrespectful shot at Kelce.

Eagles S C.J. Gardner-Johnson Takes Disrespectful Shot at Travis Kelce

In an Instagram post, Gardner-Johnson shared a picture of himself and Kelce with the caption "Should've Stayed w that thick s***" in reference to Kelce's ex-girlfriend, social media influencer Kayla Nicole.

Kelce's public relationship with Taylor Swift has been the subject of much conversation, and his past with Nicole has frequently created small controversies online. The two haven't been in a relationship for years, though her public appearances routinely bring the past to the forefront of debate.

Gardner-Johnson played a solid game and he deserves to celebrate with his teammates. This is too far though, and speaks to why he's such an unpopular player around the league. Kelce is known as one of the kindest and most respectful veterans in the game. There's a place for trash talk, but Gardner-Johnson's immature actions just distract from the Eagles' victory.

Philadelphia was the better team. That should be the focus, not some goofy off-field relationship drama. It's obvious that Gardner-Johnson isn't used to winning like this, and you can bet that people in the NFL will notice his childish antics.

For now, Kelce and his teammates will rue what could've been. They'll take vacations and enjoy their offseason as best as possible, which is admittedly easier to do when your partner is one of the biggest superstars on the planet.

Congratulations to Gardner-Johnson on his first ring. Kelce has a few of them and remains atop the metaphorical pyramid, so not even this pathetic jab can knock him from his perch.
