The Kansas City Chiefs suffered a disastrous loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl, and fans have tried their best to put that unfortunate defeat behind them.
It felt like nearly every Eagles player was exceptional, but not every guy on the roster was responsible for the victory. With the offseason starting in a brutal business, even some of these Philadelphia champions aren't safe despite winning a title.
The dominos have started to fall, and the Eagles are officially releasing a beloved veteran following a no-show in the big game.

Eagles Release CB Darius Slay After Struggles vs. Chiefs in Super Bowl
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Eagles are releasing cornerback Darius Slay in a designated post-June 1 release. They'll save $4.3 million against the cap, though it's still a bit of a surprise to see a six-time Pro Bowl starter let go right after lifting a Lombardi Trophy.
Perhaps the surprise will be lessened when you realize that the Eagles were preparing for the exit. Slay had only two tackles in the Super Bowl and while the team clearly didn't need him to be a factor, it's notable that one of his replacements, Cooper DeJean, scored a pick-six on Patrick Mahomes.
At 34 years old, Slay was always likely to be looking for a new squad in 2025. He's been rumored to return to the Detroit Lions, though it'd be interesting, albeit unlikely, if the Chiefs brought him in to serve as a veteran voice for the younger defensive backs.
Slay spent five successful years in Philadelphia but couldn't show the Eagles enough to keep him around next year. Kansas City shouldn't feel overly happy about this given the result of the game, though it at least slightly eases the sting after what felt like such a beatdown.
The Eagles have their replacements ready though are now looking for depth, and it appears that both the Chiefs and their Super Bowl rivals could be competing for similar prospects in the upcoming draft.
