Chris Jones Repeats Patrick Mahomes' Bold Statement After Narrow Raiders Win
The Kansas City Chiefs narrowly defeated the Las Vegas Raiders on Black Friday, 19-17. One-score victories like these have been par for the course his for the Chiefs. While the fans may not appreciate games being this close, some Chiefs players seem to live for it.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes seems to be one of those players and apparently, so is Chris Jones. In a clip that first circulated during Capital One's "The Match" and has circulated around the internet, Mahomes said, " Ernie (Johnson), I told you, I'm going to make it good TV it's just what I do. You've never seen me win a blowout, I just keep it real close till the end."
While Mahomes was clearly having fun in this clip, his words have rung true a lot this season. Although Chiefs fans may not enjoy Mahomes words being true the rest of the NFL world does because it make for some compelling football.
After the Chiefs' latest victory against the Raiders, defensive tackle Chris Jones made a similar comment as Mahomes did in that video. Jones said, "We keep it close to make sure you guys are watching at home. We want to keep the ratings high."
Like Mahomes, Jones is clearly joking. However, being in close games and keeping the ratings high is beneficial for the league and players because it means more revenue.
Ultimately though, coaches, players, and fans alike would prefer that games don't come down to the wire every week. Hopefully, the Chiefs are able to win a few games more convincingly going into the playoffs.
