One of the few concerns the Kansas City Chiefs continue to face is the future of Travis Kelce. After a year of retirement speculation, the star tight end opted to return for another season with the Chiefs. It is hard to blame the veteran for considering stepping away when you consider he already has one of the most impressive resumes in the history of the league. Kelce has an extremely strong case not only as the best tight end to ever step between the lines but as one of the best players in league history. Still, even an aging version of the star is an important cog the Chiefs can rely on.

Kelce has a way of getting open and picking his spots to make huge plays in the later stages of his career. This is something second-year receiver Xavier Worthy took the time to point on. Worthy talks about the veteran's ability to coach up his teammates and save something for the game's biggest moments. It was clear reading into the conversation that Worthy is continuing to hype up his teammate and hoping that the veteran will continue to stay with Kansas City beyond this season.

Chiefs Continue to Fear the Day Travis Kelce Walks Away

It is impossible not to consider just how devastating it will be if Kelce decides to call it a career at the end of the 2025 season. Along with his impressive accomplishments, the pass catcher has a well-covered off-the-field life that will continue to present a myriad of opportunities when he does decide to call it a career. Still, Kansas City fans can't help but agree with Worthy when thinking about what Kelce can be moving forward.

The tight-end doesn't need consistent greatness, but simply to be in a player/coach role, picking his spots to make a big play. Even this aging version of Kelce is so incredibly important to quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs' dynasty. As long as the veteran can continue to play, there is reason to believe he is going to deliver in the game's biggest moments.

Still, retirement at the end of the 2025 season is a legitimate consideration that the superstar is going to weigh. One that Kansas City fans must be mentally prepared for, appreciating every moment this season and what the star has meant to the franchise during his career. Worthy's points hit home and highlight a continued fear that could help end what has been an incredible run in Kansas City.
