The Kansas City Chiefs are on the road to play against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2 of the preseason on Friday night. While starters likely won't see any action in this bout, there are several other players fighting to make the roster.
There are multiple WRs locked to make the team, but numerous players are fighting to make the 53-man roster. And one of those guys is Jason Brownlee, and he could have a shot to make the team, considering that Marquise Brown is dealing with an ankle injury that he suffered in a July 29th practice.
Could Jason Brownlee really crack the 53-man roster? That and 4 other things to watch for in the Chiefs’ Week 2 preseason matchup vs. the Seahawks 🔗 https://t.co/lps2iYlbsr pic.twitter.com/PKPrliNLOb

Chiefs WR Jason Brownlee Could Have Pathway Onto Roster
While KC would love to have Brown healthy and ready to roll, Brownlee has taken advantage of the increased reps. He has been impressive throughout training camp, and his momentum carried over into the first preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals, where he reeled in a touchdown grab from quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Brownlee came into the league as an undrafted free agent in 2023 with the New York Jets and made the initial 53-man roster. After getting released by Gang Green, he joined the Chiefs' practice squad and signed a reserve/future contract in February.
In his career, Brownlee has caught five passes for 56 yards and one touchdown, but his 6-foot-3 frame and ball skills make him an intriguing pass-catching option.
Rashee Rice, Juju Smith-Schuster, Jalen Royals, Xavier Worthy, and Brown are locks to make the roster, leaving little room for anyone else to make the team, but Brownlee is making a strong push.
Especially if Brown isn't ready to roll when the season starts, having Brownlee around will help soften the blow and give KC another pass catcher on the outside while Brown continues to recover.
The preseason matches against the Seahawks and Bears will go a long way for the 26-year-old as he fights to make the final roster. With the extended playing time that he's set to receive, this will be the biggest opportunity for him to carve out a spot on the roster and give Andy Reid no option other than to keep him.
Tyquan Thornton is another WR who has stood out in camp, but Brownlee has a real shot to make this team after stacking weeks of good football. Now it's time to keep his foot on the gas.
