Chiefs vs. Bills Halftime Show Announced for AFC Championship Game
By Jovan Alford
The No. 1 seed Kansas City Chiefs will welcome the No. 2 seed Buffalo Bills to GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday evening for the AFC Championship Game. The winner of this highly anticipated matchup will represent the AFC in Super Bowl 59 in New Orleans, Louisiana, next month.
It will be the second time these two teams have played each other this season. The Bills got the upper hand on the Chiefs in Week 11, ending Kansas City’s undefeated streak with a 30-21 loss in Buffalo. You have to imagine that the Chiefs want to get revenge on the Bills and send them home packing for the second-straight postseason.
Before kickoff, Chiefs fans will be treated to an outstanding rendition of the national anthem from retired US Navy Petty Officer First Class Generald Wilson. Along with the anthem, Chiefs CEO and chairman Clark Hunt will get the crowd going as the drum honoree.
Kansas City fans will also be treated to a cool halftime show before the second half of the AFC title game.
Chiefs Reveal Halftime Performers for AFC Title Game vs. Bills
The Chiefs announced earlier this week that “Big and Rich,” the American country music duo, will perform during halftime of Sunday’s AFC title game, per FOX4 KC.
Last week, Kansas City had hip-hop legend and rapper Big Boi, formerly of Outkast, perform at halftime in the divisional round against the Houston Texans. Big and Rich, who are Grammy nominated, have hits such as “Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)” and “Comin’ To Your City.”
“Comin’ To Your City” was most famously heard for 16 years on ESPN’s College GameDay during college football season.
On their website, Big Kenny (William Kenneth Alphin) and John Rich are “America’s Technicolor Cowboys, brothers-in-arms in service to the creed that great music has no boundaries.”
The country music duo had a triple-platinum album called “Horse of a Different Color” in 2004 after becoming a group in 2003. Big & Rich has been nominated for several awards (CMA and CMT) and won the new country duo/group of the year award for the 2004 Billboard Music Awards.
