The Kansas City Chiefs obviously have huge expectations for the 2025 season, and anything less than a Super Bowl victory would be considered a failure. After the struggles the offense labored through over the last two years at the wide receiver position.

Things appear to be in better shape now, and the core group of Rashee Rice, Marquise 'Hollywood' Brown, Xavier Worthy, the emerging Jalen Royals, and JuJu Smith-Schuster will give Patrick Mahomes perhaps the deepest group he's ever played with.

Unfortunately for one veteran, however, the overall improvement of the unit all but guarantees that he's entering his final preseason with the organization.

Chiefs WR Skyy Moore Entering Final Preseason with Organization

2022 second-round pick Skyy Moore, who is widely considered to be one of the biggest draft busts in general manager Brett Veach's tenure, almost certainly won't be on the team in Week 1. Between the aforementioned wideouts, who are locks to make the 53-man group, Tyquan Thornton and Nikko Remigio are firmly ahead of Moore. The Chiefs will only keep seven receivers at most, leaving Moore on the outside looking in.

This isn't surprising and Moore has been on the hot seat for a while, particularly given the additional value that Thornton and Remigio can bring on special teams. Moore has proven to be injury-prone and is dealing with a hamstring issue at the moment, making it even harder for him to overcome someone on the depth chart.

During his three-year tenure with the franchise, Moore has caught just 43 of 74 targets for 494 yards and one TD. He doesn't have Mahomes' trust and struggles to make contested catches given his small stature, adding additional obstacles that he must overcome. It's still possible that the 24-year-old wideout can become a dependable receiver and carve out a nice career, but it won't be in Kansas City.

If Moore gets healthy in time for preseason action, expect the Chiefs to feature him in an effort to drum up trade interest from other teams around the league. Kansas City knows he's a sunk cost at this point, though perhaps they can convince a team to send a late-round pick in exchange for his services.

We'll see what happens in the coming weeks, but fans should expect to see Moore in a different uniform once September rolls around.
