OTAs and mandatory minicamp are officially over for the Kansas City Chiefs and we've seen some significant standouts throughout the early portion of the summer.
Rookies like wideout Jalen Royals and running back Brashard Smith have shone as the front office and coaching staff evaluate who belongs on the final 53-man roster. Some spots are guaranteed, but there's plenty open for debate, especially at the wide receiver position.
Former Clemson star Justyn Ross has won fans over in recent years with his fantastic play in training camp, yet he's been on the chopping block for a while.

Chiefs WR Justyn Ross Needs a Miracle to Make 53-Man Roster
Ross, who has a highlight tape that could rival almost anyone's, will almost certainly be a casualty of the small roster size once training camp rolls around.
His Clemson tape is incredible, and Ross has justifiably garnered a significant group of fans within Chiefs Kingdom, hoping he makes the team. This isn't the first time he's faced an uphill climb, though it might be the steepest during his brief career.
During his tenure with Kansas City, Ross has just six catches on 12 targets for 53 yards at 8.8 yards a catch. The 25-year-old receiver has plenty of promise, yet it seems obvious that he hasn't mastered the minute details of the position in order to earn greater playing time.
In all likelihood, Ross, who is signed for less than $1 million this year, will be a practice squad player as he's primarily been recently. With Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, Hollywood Brown, Juju Smith-Schuster, and Jalen Royals locked into roster spots, there are one or two places left for Skyy Moore, Nikko Remigio, Tyquan Thornton, and Ross. At most, two of them make the team. No matter how you shake it, Ross is the last person in that order as of today.
Perhaps Ross can make an impact this summer, but it feels as if his days with the organization are coming to an end.
