A lot is made of when NFL franchises' "Super Bowl windows" are. But at the end of the day, winning a Super Bowl is incredibly hard for even the best teams. The Kansas City Chiefs need to be focused on winning another ring right now, not in trying to extend their window.
And that's why the latest draft report from Adam Schefter is seriously bad news.

Schefter reports that the Chiefs are still trying to fix their offensive tackle woes, and that a player like Ohio State's Josh Simmons would "make a lot of sense."
Simmons is a great prospect, and tackle is obviously an important position. But burning your first-round pick on a player with no realistic path to getting on the field as a rookie is not the right move for a team looking to reclaim their status as the best in the NFL.
Jaylon Moore hasn't been given $30 million to serve as a backup, and Jawaan is of course entrenched as the starter on the right side. Both are also under contract for the next two seasons, though the Cfs could get out of Taylor's contract in 2026 if it came to that.
So the upside of drafting a tackle is that they would hopefully start at right tackle in 2026, or left tackle in 2027?
The Chiefs don't have the luxury of a roster so loaded that they can afford to play the waiting game like that.
This is shaping up to be a pretty strong defensive line class, and that would be a position that would give the Chiefs' long-term upside while also having room for a rookie to produce in Year 1. The same can be said of a wide receiver, even though Xavier Worthy didn't exactly make an impact in his first season.
Chiefs fans will be hoping this is just a last-minute smoke screen, and that Brett Veach and Andy Reid are more focused on bringing in a player who can make an impact right away.
