The Kansas City Chiefs have a clear remaining concern at the cornerback position after the free agency departure of Jaylen Watson and the trade of Trent McDuffie. Replacing McDuffie is a tall order, with the star corner being a reliable option that defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo could count on to shut down one side of the field.

With this in mind, the Chiefs should be on the lookout for a potential replacement, and it seems that ESPN's Adam Schefter just pointed Kansas City in the right direction.

""Sources: Colts and Kenny Moore II mutually have agreed to seek a trade and a new home for the veteran cornerback. Moore is entering the last year of his contract, and both sides feel it is time to explore a trade.""
Adam Schefter

Moore is coming off a season with 41 tackles and a pair of sacks, to go along with a lone interception. While the numbers aren't elite, there is a steady stream of production, and Spagnuolo has a proven track record of getting the most out of his defensive backs. It makes sense for the Chiefs to attempt to bring in Moore as a replacement for McDuffie and lean on the draft for any additional depth.

From Moore's perspective, it makes sense to land in Kansas City, giving you the best chance to set yourself up to get paid and to contend for a Super Bowl. When Patrick Mahomes is healthy, the Chiefs have never fallen short of reaching the AFC Championship, pointing to the clear opportunity that would lie ahead for Moore.

Colts Handing Chiefs the Perfect Opportunity to Replace Trent McDuffie

It should be noted that Moore had forced a pair of fumbles and is a willing tackler who will attack the football. This is the exact type of aggressive nature that the Chiefs lost in McDuffie and could now replace at a lower cost. Moore has only one year remaining on his deal, making the trade cost likely far cheaper, but leaving the team that lands Moore expected to offer a notable extension.

This is perhaps the only hiccup in any potential trade with the Chiefs, as they rarely opt to pay top dollar at this position. It seems this is the reason Moore wants out of Indy, leaving the trade only as a realistic possibility if the price is low and Moore is willing to set himself up for free agency in the 2027 season. There is also always the chance that, after losing Watson and McDuffie, the Chiefs would be willing to pay Moore.

Regardless of the answer, it is a clear position of need for the Chiefs, making a potential trade an obvious consideration moving forward. One that would have KC fans feeling far better about the 2026 offseason.
